This website sets no cookies and asks you for nothing. It counts visits with Pirsch, which cannot tell us who you are, and you can opt out on this page. The apps are covered separately below.

What does this website collect?
We use Pirsch to count visits. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device unless you opt out, when your browser remembers that choice. To tell one visit from another, it scrambles your IP address and browser type into a short code that cannot be turned back into either — and that code stops matching you within a day, so nobody can follow you from one day to the next, or to any other website. Your IP address itself is never stored. Pirsch keeps your browser's description of itself — the make of browser and device, not who you are — for up to three months, separately from any page view.
What we keep is aggregate: how many people read a page, which site or search sent them, roughly which country and device, and whether someone tapped through to an app store — which app, which store, and where on the page the button was.
We do this to find out whether this website is useful and which pages help people find the right app. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — ours, in understanding whether the site works. We have written an assessment weighing that against your privacy, and you can ask us for a copy.
We do not build profiles, we do not track you across other websites, we do not advertise, and we do not sell or share this data with anyone. Pirsch, a German company, processes it on our behalf under a data processing agreement, and stores it on servers in Germany. The counting runs through this website rather than straight to Pirsch, so an ad-blocker does not stop it; the control below does.
How do I opt out?
Opting out needs JavaScript, and it is off in this browser. With it off, this site cannot count your visit at all, so there is nothing to opt out of.
The choice is remembered by this browser on this device, so opt out again on any other browser or device you use, or after clearing this site's data. You can also object to this processing, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing support@speechtools.co. For these statistics the honest answer to that second question is "nothing we could connect to you" — there is no name, account or code that would let us look you up.
What else?
There are no tracking pixels and no advertising scripts, and our fonts are served from this domain rather than from a font network. There is no contact form, so there is nothing for you to fill in.
Our hosting provider processes the technical information any web server needs to answer a request, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the page and protect against abuse.
Links to the App Store and Google Play carry a label saying which page of this site you came from, so we can tell whether the site helps people find the right app. The label names the page, not you: it is a fixed piece of text in the link, and the store may pass it to the app after you install it.
What happens if I email you?
We use your email address to answer you, and we keep the correspondence so we have context if you write again. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing. Email to support@speechtools.co is handled through our support system, Zendesk.
What about the apps?
The apps are separate from this website. Where an app records your voice, the recordings stay on your device unless you choose to share them — they are not uploaded to us. Each app's App Store and Google Play listing carries its own privacy details, which is where the stores require them to be and where they are kept current.
Nothing on this site or in the apps is used to make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell data.
Who is responsible, and how do I complain?
Speechtools Ltd, Bristol, United Kingdom, is the data controller. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to processing — write to support@speechtools.co.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
